Enroll in the Maui TradeWinds Vocational Training Program. Earn While You Learn. 
The Maui TradeWinds Vocational Training Program is now accepting applications. No fee is required to attend The Program, and trainees chosen will be compensated $15 per hour of training. The initial class will have limited seating, with additional classes added as needed.
Registration is open to individuals who are at least 18 years old. Educational requirements are a high school diploma or G.E.D. Those affected by Maui’s catastrophic wildfires, high school graduates and former Maui residents with a desire to return to Maui are encouraged to apply.
Classes are offered through a partnership with the South Maui Learning ʻOhana, and will be held on the campus of the Kīhei Charter School, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., for 12 weeks, beginning on Tuesday, August 29th 2023.
The classes will be co-taught by business members who are actively working in the field as members of MFELC, including hospitality companies, contractors, service providers, businesses and nonprofits.
The program seeks to bring students into the workplace for real-life experiences. Among the skills to be taught will be: basic safety, introduction to hand tools, power tools, construction math, trade literacy, introduction to blueprints, engineering trades and employability skills.
Upon successful completion of the Program students will receive a “Certificate of Completion”. The graduates may then bring the Certificate to the HR Department or hiring manager of an MFELC member company, or qualified companies as proof of training and employability.
